Medico-legal Assessment
People require medico-legal reports and psychological assessments for a variety of different reasons. They may have been badly affected by an accident, or workplace negligence, or it may be that they need an expert witness to testify as to the symptoms they are experiencing, and the impact on their lives.
Sometimes circumstances arise where people have committed crimes and need a psychologist to explain how an illness or condition might have affected their behaviour.
It is important that these complex issues are explained in an understandable way to all the people involved, which requires a range of very specialised skills and attention to detail, in addition to specific professional tools.
Medico-legal and court assessments are often anxiety provoking processes that take place at quite traumatic times in a person’s life. My approach to all my clients is one of sensitivity with an awareness of the challenges that such processes can involve, providing an appropriate balance between empathy and objectivity.
I have specialism as a psychologist in the area of neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and offer expert assessment and opinion regarding these conditions.
